What Sets the Price of a Charter Flight

Every charter quote is built from the same handful of pieces. Knowing them helps you plan a budget early and spot where you have room to save. Here is what moves the number most.

We build each quote by phone from your dates, passenger count and route. The number we give you is all-inclusive, and we walk you through every line before you book.

Aircraft size
A turboprop costs less per hour to fly than a heavy jet. The number of passengers and how much luggage they bring usually decide the smallest aircraft that fits.
Flight time and distance
Charter is priced largely by hours in the air. A longer route, or one that needs a fuel stop on a smaller aircraft, adds to the total.
Where the aircraft starts
If the jet has to fly in empty to pick you up, that positioning time can count. Empty leg flights flip this around and can lower the cost when the timing fits.
Overnights and wait time
A trip where the crew waits a day or two for your return adds crew lodging and daily costs. We lay those out so you can compare them against two one-way flights.
Dates and demand
Aircraft get scarce on holiday weekends and big event dates. Booking early gives you more aircraft to choose from and steadier pricing.
Airports and extras
Landing fees, FBO fees and catering requests vary by airport and by trip. They are listed in your quote, not added later.

Charter Options for Every Trip Size

We have been in business 5 years, and most of that time goes into one job: matching the right aircraft to the trip. A turboprop handles short hops and smaller runways well. Light and midsize jets cover most regional business travel, while super-midsize and heavy jets carry more passengers and bags over longer distances. Empty leg flights can save you money when your dates line up with an aircraft already heading your way, so ask about them when you call.

  • Turboprop Charter

A practical charter aircraft for regional trips of a few hundred miles, with room for a small group and access to short runways that jets skip.

  • Light Jet Charter

A fast, efficient jet for four to seven passengers on regional trips, quoted one way with taxes and fees already in the number.

  • Midsize Jet Charter

A roomier cabin, more bags and longer nonstop range for groups of seven to nine who want to cross most of the country without a fuel stop.

  • Super-Midsize Jet Charter

A stand-up cabin, room for 8 to 10 passengers and the range to fly from central Indiana to either coast without a fuel stop.

  • Heavy Jet Charter

Large-cabin jets for 12 or more passengers, long nonstop routes and overseas trips, priced point to point with an all-inclusive quote.

  • Empty Leg Flights

One-way seats on aircraft already flying your direction, matched to your dates, with a backup charter ready if the leg changes.

A Charter Company That Picks Up the Phone

Private Jet Charter Shelbyville is a small outfit. We work out of our office and by phone and video, setting up on demand flights for business travelers, families and companies moving a group on a tight schedule.

We like trips that are planned. When you call a few weeks out, we can line up the right aircraft, check for empty legs on your route and hand you a price that will not move. When a trip comes up fast, we still answer, but planning ahead is where you get the most choice for the money.

Why Passengers Book Their Trips Through Us

Rushed bookings make private flying cost more. We help you settle the aircraft, the price and the departure time early, so nothing is left hanging as the trip gets close.

A single all-inclusive price

Fuel, crew, taxes and airport fees are built into every quote. You will not find hidden charges after landing.

Only pay for flights you take

Our pricing is point to point. One-way trips are billed one way, never at round trip pricing for a return you skip.

No sign-up, no contract

There is no program deposit, no yearly fee and no long term commitment. When you need to fly, just call.

Honest advice on aircraft size

When a light jet comfortably carries four passengers with carry-ons, we tell you. We quote the aircraft that fits your trip, not the largest one available.

Your dog and your laptop can come

Pets are welcome aboard, and WIFI equipped aircraft are available, so your dog travels with you and your work keeps going in the air.

Answers to Common Questions

Something not covered here? (317) 620-3508

Do I have to join a program or buy hours up front?

No. There is no program to sign up for and no long term commitment. Each trip is booked and paid for on its own.

Does the quote leave anything out?

No. Fuel, crew, taxes and the standard airport and FBO charges are already in the price. If you request something extra later, such as catering, you hear the cost before it is added. Nothing is hidden.

My trip is one way. Am I charged for a return?

No. With point to point pricing, a one-way flight is priced as one way. You are never charged round trip pricing for a leg you do not fly.

How far in advance should I book?

Sooner is better, most of all near holidays and big events. A few weeks of notice gives you the most aircraft to choose from and a better chance at an empty leg. Short-notice trips are still possible, and someone answers our phone at any hour.

What if the plane has a mechanical issue?

Mechanical insurance pays up to 100% of the cost of a replacement flight. We explain how it works for your trip when we go over the quote together.

Can my dog fly with me?

Yes, pets can come along. Tell us how many and how big when you call, and we will check that the aircraft and crew are ready for them.

Can I get online during the flight?

Yes, WIFI equipped aircraft can be booked. Let us know up front if you need to stay connected, and we will quote only planes that offer it.

What does empty leg mean?

It is a trip an aircraft must fly with no passengers, like heading home after dropping someone off. When it lines up with your route and timing, you can fly on it for less. Our Empty Leg Flights page has the details.

How Booking a Flight Works

It starts with a phone call and ends with you boarding. Most of the work happens in between, well before departure day.

  1. 1

    Tell us about the trip

Call and give us your dates, where you are flying, how many passengers and roughly how many bags. Mention pets or any special requests now.

  2. 2

    Get your quote

We come back with aircraft options and an all-inclusive quote for each. You see the price differences side by side and pick what fits.

  3. 3

    Confirm the details

Once you book, we confirm the departure time, the FBO you will leave from and who is on the passenger list. Changes are easier to handle the earlier we hear about them.

  4. 4

    Show up and fly

Arrive at the FBO a short while before departure, meet the crew and board. No long security lines and no gate changes.
